The new prices for New Zealand dairy produce exports to Britain in the coming season are expected to add more than £2.000.000 to this country’s earnings, if present production figures are maintained. Under a bulk purchase agreement between the Dairy Products Marketing Commission and the British Ministry of Food, Britain is to pay nearly 4 per cent, more for New Zealand butter and cheese, and about 7 J per cent, less for milk powder, compared with current prices. The new season will open on August 1. The general manager of the commission (Mr G. M. Pottinger) tonight gave these estimated variations in returns under the new schedules compared with present receipts:—Butter would increase by about £1.800,000: cheese would increase by about £660,000; but milk powders would drop by about £350,000. For the season now ending, Mr Pottinger said, the estimated return for dairy produce exports would be near £80.000.000. Production prospects for the. new season appeared good, he said.
