OFFICIAL FORECASTS "Th« Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, June 22. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours following the time of issue.
Situation: a ridge of high pressure is •ast of New Zealand and a depression is advancing across the central Tasman Sea. Forecast: light winds and fair weather; cold temperatures. Outlook: cloudy. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Light or moderate northerly winds; skies mostly cloudy, with local showers becoming heavier during the day; milder temperatures. Outlook: showers. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was fine, with a very light south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 53.4 degrees. At midnight the sky was overcast, and there was no wind. The tempera- ' ture .was 37.3 degrees. The barometer, at 29.726 in (1006.6 millibars), was rising unsteadily.
