REORGANISATION PROPOSALS

HAWERA OPPOSITION The Hawera Hospital Board does not favour any proposal to alter the existing system of hospital control in Taranaki and to substitute for it a system of base hospitals with a number of satellite local committees. This was told to the Consultative Committee on Hospital Reform this morning by Mr H. Thrush, chairman of the Hawera board. Apparent advantages which it was thought might accrue from regionalisation had already been achieved in Taranaki by voluntary co-operation between boards, he* said. The submissions by the Hawera board contended that the scheme for the reorganisation of hospitals was contrary to the interests of hospital service, and public opinion in Taranaki would not endorse the proposals.
