WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED

Brooklands. —The monthly meeting of the Brook lands branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held recently. Mrs Cox presided. The roll call was "A good deed I have had shown me.” Mrs MacLeod won the lucky parcel. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs Sullivan in her illness. Competition results were:—sewing: Mesdames Scott and Barnes (equal) 1, Reidford, Cox and MacLeod (equal) 2. Cooking: Mrs Black

1, Mrs Barnes 2. Decorative: Mrs Barnes 1, Mrs Scott 2. Large bloom: Mrs MacLeod 1, Mrs Barnes 2. Small bloom: Mrs Green 1. Mrs Black 2. Spike: Mesdames Green and MacLeod (equal) 1, Mrs Robinson 2. Mesdames Scott and Duffield were hostesses.

Styx.—The monthly meeting of the Styx branch of the Women’s Division of the Federated Farmers, was held in the Returned Servicemen’s Hall, Belfast. Mrs Rule presided over a good attendance. Mrs Rule spoke of the Provincal Jubilee and also about the Dominion conference to be held at Auckland. Mrs Rule was nominated as delegate to attend the conference. An interesting demonstration on making crochet cosies was given by Mrs Preece. Competition results were:— tumbler: Mesdames Smith 1, Buchanan 2, Spencer 3. Cluster: Mesdames Spencer 1, Buchanan 2, Marsh 3. Small bloom: Mesdames Spencer 1, Miss Monkman 2, Marsh and Chapman (equal) 3. Sewing: Mesdames Spencer 1, Bach 2, Chapman and Skerten (equal) 3. Cooking: Mesdames Spencer 1, Smith and Chapman (equal) 2. Aithen and Buchanan (equal) 3.

Marshland.—Mrs Ching presided at the May meeting of the Marshland branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Remits to be brought forward at the coming Dominion conference were discussed. Competition results were:— large bloom: Mrs Stead 1, Mrs Goode 2. Small bloom: Mrs N. Treleaven 1, Mrs Chapman 2? Cluster: Mrs Lawson 1, Mrs S. Watson 2. Shrub: Mrs Stead 1, Mrs Lawson 2. Winter decoration: Mrs Sheppard 1, Mrs Stead 2. Bacon and egg pie: Mrs McLauchlan and Mrs Chapman (equal) 1, Mrs "Lawson 2. Peggy square: Mrs Quaid 1, Mrs Lawson 2. Okuku.—Mrs T. Johnstone presided at the May meeting of the Okuku branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers held at Whiterock. Mrs Gibson gave a report on the formation of the North Canterbury executive. Mrs E. Crampton was thanked for compiling the history of the branch. Presentations were made to Mrs Crampton, the retiring president and Mrs E. Ensor, who is going overseas. Competition results were:— large bloom: Mesdames Johnstone 1, P. Lundy 2, T. Johnstone 3. Small bloom: Mesdames T. Johnstone 1, Harper 2, E. Crampton 3. Vase - chrysanthemums: Mesdames F. Johnstone 1, Crampton 2, R. Dixon 3.
