IMPORTS OF ZINC OXIDE

LICENSING CONTROL REIMPOSED (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 11. Import licensing for zinc oxide has been reimposed on the recommendation of the Board of Trade after the public tariff Inquiry held last Febru“ite Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr J. T. Watts) said today that the board had not completed its report to the Government on this tariff inquiry because of conflict in the evidence on technical questions. The board had expressed the view that because of widely-fluctuating prices for zinc, the principal raw material, it was not practicable to fix tariff duties that would afford reasonable protection to .the local Industry in the immediate future.
