KAIAPOI CELEBRATES CORONATION DAY

There was a procession of floats and decorated bicycles and tricycles to celebrate Coronation Day at Kaiapoi on Tuesday. The parade was led by the Kaiapoi Brass Band, and included school children, marching girls, a St. John Ambulance Brigade detachment, and members of the Kaiapoi subbranch of the Returned Services’ Association. The procession ended at the park, where badges, sweets and ice cream were distributed to the children. In the evening, there was a bonfire and fireworks display in Darnley square. There was a combined religious service in the Rialto Theatre on Sunday afternoon.
