The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 pjn. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours following the time of issue, is:— Sitnation: a trough of low pressure is crossing New Zealand. Forecast: moderate to fresh south-westerly winds; weather cloudy and cooL with occasional showers. Outlook: fair. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Moderate winds from a southerly quarter; rain clearing slowly; cold temperatures. Outlook: occasional rain. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was dull, with a few light showers in the afternoon. There was a light south-west wind, and the maximum temperature was 55.7 degrees. At midnight, the sky was dear, and there was no wind. The temperature was 38.9 degrees. The barometer, at 29.764, was rising unsteadily. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 1 a.m.: a trace Meteorological observations taken at the Magnetic Survey, Christchurch, on May M 105.1
