DRESS FOR PRIME MINISTERS
, LONDON. May 26. Almost as much secrecy is being observed about what the Prime Minister of New Zealand (Mr Holland) and the Prime Minister of Australia (Mr Menzies) will wear at the Coronation as surrounds the Queen’s Coronation dress, says the correspondent of the Australian Associated Press. The Earl Marshal's office said today: “It is upto the individual Prime Ministers. The Prime Ministers of India are Pakistan are likely to wear their national dress. Sir Winston Churchill will wear the uniform of Lord Warden Of the Cinque Ports under the mantle of the Order of the Garter. The other Prime Ministers can wear either a Privy Councillor’s uniform or evening dress.” Mr Menzies, on his arrival in London last Friday, would say only that he would "wear what the other boys wear.”
It is believed at the moment that the consensus of Prime Ministers’ private views favours full evening dress.
