CORONATION DAY IN KOREA

BATTERY TO FIRE ROYAL SALUTE (N.Z. Army Information Service) KOREA, May 25. A battery commander of the 16th New Zealand Field Regiment has been selected to take charge of the battery to fire the 21-gun Royal salute at the 1st Commonwealth Division's celebrations on Coronation Day. He is Major N. L. Miller (Wellington), who will be in charge of a battery comprising a section from each of the three field artillery regiments in the division.

Rehearsals are now being held for the ceremonial parade which will form the main part of the festivities on June 2. A feature of the parade will be the firing by a British light anti-air-craft gun troop of the pattern “E II R” in the sky. Red, white and blue smoke shells may also be fired by the Commonwealth artillery. After the parade, which will Include the presentation of Coronation awards, there will be a luncheon to which high ranking officers of the United Nations forces in Korea have been invited. Brigades and individual units of the division will also hold their own festivities. Along the 38th parallel there will be sports gatherings, parties, extra rations and possibly a fireworks display.
