NEW ROTARY CLUB
RICCARTON PRESENTED WITH CHARTER The newly-organised Riccarton Rotary Club was formally admitted to membership in Rotary International last evening. The, club which has 24 members was presented with its official charter by the district governor (Mr J. Robbie, of Invercargill) at a ceremony in the Disabled Servicemen’s Re-establishment League hall attended by representatives of 11 other Rotary clubs, including Auckland, Picton and Dunedin, Altogether about 135 Rotarians and their wives were present. The aims of Rotary were outlined by Mr Charles Taylor, a past district governor, who as the district governor’s renresentative, helped with the formation of the Riccarton club. Other speakers included Mr E. T. Beaven president of the Ch.’istchurch club, which sponsored the new club, the Mayor of Riccarton (Mr H, S. S. Kyle),
the president of the Riccarton club Au,-?’. LeßTat) the chairman of the Christchurch branch of the -Disabled S^ rv ‘£ e ™? n ' s R establishment Lca’ue mu’ Mr T ‘ C - Williams and Mr H. T Thomas. a past first-vice-president of Rotary International.
