The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours following the time of issue, is:— Situation: an anti-cyclone centred west of Tasmania is advancing eastward, causing pressures to rise over the country. Forecast to midnight on Monday: moderate south-westerly winds, fresh at first on the coast. Fair weather except for scattered showers, mainly about Banks Peninsula; cool temperatures. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Light winds; fair weather; cool temperatures. Outlook for Tuesday r fair. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch during the week-end was fine, apart from scattered showers. At midnight the sky was overcast and there was a light south-west wind. The temperature was 48.8 degrees. The barometer, rising steadily, registered 30J3S inches (1023.9 millibars).
