PENFOLD 2000GNS TOURNAMENT

ARTHUR LEES BEATS K. BOUSFIELD

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) London, May 23. The biggest thrill of the closing stages of the Penfold 2000 guineas golf tournament at Llandudno, Wales, today was a semi-final match between the Ryder Cup captain, Henry Cotton, and Arthur Lees. Lees beat Cotton by 1 up, and went on to beat another Ryder Cup man, Ken Bousfield, 2 up in the 18-holes final. Bousfield beat W. Smithers in the other semifinal, 3 and 2. Against Cotton, Lees was 4 up at the twelfth, but Cotton reduced the lead to 1 up at the sixteenth. The last two holes were halved.
