CHURCHILL’S VIEW “REALISTIC”

Japanese Comment On Speech (Rec. 12.30 am.) TOKYO, May 13. The leading Japanese daily newspaper, “Asahi Shimbun,” said in a leading article today that the American attitude towards peace was “inflexible” in contrast to Sir Winston Churchill’s realistic views. Commenting on Sir Winston Churchill’s speech, “Asahi” said: "We wholeheartedly support all the points in the speech. Peace could come more along the lines of Sir Winston Churchill’s way of thinking than along American lines.” The Japanese Foreign Minister (Mr Katsuo Okazaki) said he considered Sir Winston Churchill’s suggestion for a Big Power meeting at the highest level “well worth trying.” In a prepared statement, Mr Okazaki said: “Sir Winston Churchill’s speech indicates the constructive effort he is constantly making for peace in the world.”

U.S. “Detention Camps.”—At least five “detention camps” for the incarceration of dangerous subversives in time of war are being built throughout the United States.—Washington, May .12.
