CHARGE OF ABDUCTION
TRIAL AT HAMILTON BEGUN (New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON, May 12. Two charges related to the alleged abduction of a 16-year-old girl, Wendy Dawn Fahey, at Cambridge, on October 26 last, were denied by Bartelo Cesare Russon, aged "30, a farmhand, of Roto-o-Rangi (Mr N. S. Johnson) in the Supreme Court at Hamilton today. Mr K. L. Sandford prosecuted, and Mr Justice Hutchison and' a jury are 'hearing the case. The first charge is that Russon on or about November 1, 1952, and on various dates between October 26, Sand January 6, 1953, detained iy against her will, with intent to know her carnally. The second alleges that on October 26, with intent that Fahey should be unlawfully and carnally .known by him, he took the girl out of the possession and against the will of her father. -z Mr Sandford said the allegation against the accused was that he persuaded the girl to leave home, and she stayed with him for more than two months, all the time so much under his domination that she was afraid to leave. \ -
Evidence on the same lines as that given in the lower Court is being given. The case is expected to occupy more than 10 days.
