CONTRACT LOST TO BRITAIN
EFFECT OF BAN ON PRINCE AKIHITO (Rec 10 p.m.) LONDON, May 11. Britain lost a big engineering contract because of a dispute over the projected visit by Crown Prince Akihito of Japan to Newcastle-on-Tyne, says the “Daily Mail.” The visit was cancelled when former servicemen and others objected about the proposed reception.' A spokesman with the Japanese Imperial entourage said: “It was our intention to place a contract as a memorial to the Crown Prince’s visit to Newcastle.” A five-man Japanese trade mission which has been ordering aircraft from firms in other parts of England, has also cancelled its Tyneside visit as the result of the cancellation of the Royal visit
