Good style Merino fleece and skirtings carrying light vegetable fault were .up to 2j per cent dearer at the Sydney wool sale today compared with the Newcastle sale closing rates. AB other Merino descriptions, comebacks and crossbreds showed a hardening tendency. „ . Of the 14,230 bales offered, 14,138 were sold Competition was particularly strong from Britain, the Continent and Japan. Top price for Merino fleece was 132 d for flue bales of best 64/70 s. Herses Killed to Fire.—Fire caused by an electrical short circuit raced through a newly-built stable at Beulah Park, Ohio, today suffocating or fatally burning 18 horses valued at 52,000 dollars.
