TAM O’SHANTER TOURNEYS MURRAY OR' HUDSON TO BE NOMINATED (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 11. . One of two New Zealand professional golfers, A. Murray, of Auckland, the open champion, or G. E. Hudson, of Palmerston North, the professional champion, will soon be nominated by the New Zealand Professional Golfers’ Association for the famous Tam o’Shanter tournaments to be held in Chicago toward the end of the year. The one selected will receive a handsome grant for expenses, and will compete in the company of most of the leading golfers of the world.
A. E. Guy, secretary of the association, is now communicating with ‘he several members of the association's committee who live outside Auckland to obtain their opinions on the merits of the two candidates. ’ .
The golfer chosen is likely to be sent to Chicago before the end of the week.
OPEN TOURNAMENT AT HAWARDEN
A. G. Appleton, of the Kaiapoi Golf Club, won the annual open tournament of the Hawarden Golf Club, held In unpleasant, windy conditions on Sunday. The runner-up was A. F. Green, also of Kaiapoi. Green played more consistent golf, but Appleton's good morning round was not spoiled by his extra three strokes in the afternoon. Results werg:— Gross, open: A. G. Appleton. 81, 84— 165; A. F.
