L. HOAD TO PLAY J. DROBNY FINAL OF TOURNAMENT IN ROME (N.Z. Press Association— Copyright) ROME, May 10. A battle between 18-year-old Lewis Hoad, of Australia, and 32-year-old Jaroslav Drobny. of Egypt, will be the feature of the last day’s play in the Italian international -tennis tournament tomorrow. They will contest the men’s singles final. On the way to the final, Hoad demonstrated power, stamina, and all-round brilliance rarely seen in Rome. Drobny has shown that he is still one of the world's greatest hard court players. Experts forecast that Drobny would win. They believed that his experience and courtcraft would be too much for the Australian. Drobny, in beating Ken Rosewall (Australia), m the semi-finals in straight sets, showed that in spite of his age he remains among the great tennis players of the world. Results:—

Men’s Singles.—Quarter-finals: Hoad beat S. Davidson (Sweden), 7-5, 7-9, 6-1, 6-2. Semi-finals: Hoad beat F. Gardini (Italy), 6-1, 6-3, 6-2; Drobny beat Rosewall, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. Men’s Doubles.—Semi-finals: Drobny and Budge Patty beat M. Rose and C. Wilderspin (Australia), 6-3, 6-4, 6-0. Women’s Doubles.—Final: Maureen Connolly and Julie Sampson (America) beat Dons Hart and Shirley Fry (America), 6-8. 6-4, 6-4.
