CAR STOLEN AT TIMARU
VAIN POLICE CHASE ON FOOT (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, May 11. Thieves broke into the yard of the Timaru Car Exchange, Ltd., soon after 6 o’clock this evening, and stole a 1935 Ford V 8 car. To enter the yard they lifted the gate off its hinges. Soon after the car was reported missing, two constables noticed a car answering its description, and gave chase, unsuccessfully, on foot At that time the car was going south, but it was later seen travelling in a northerly direction along Stafford street. Timaru. It is thought that the car may have been stolen by two men, Donald Keith Henderson and Donald George Walter Olssen who escaped from custody at Dunedin on Saturday. The car was reported to have about three gallons of petrol in the tank. Motorists were warned during the day to keep their cars locked.
