FALL OF EARTH ON NORTH LINE

PASSENGERS TAKEN 13 MILES BY BUS (From Our Own Reporter) KAIKOURA, May 11. A fall of earth at the southern end of Number 13 tunnel, about five and a half miles south of Kaikoura, on the coast section of the South Island main trunk railway, again held up traffic today. Passengers on the expresses had to be taken by buses between Oaro and Kaikoura, about 13 miles. There were about 250 passengers on the northbound express, ana 150 on the PictonChristchurch train.

The express left Kaikoura for Picton about one and a half hours late, and the south-bound express from Oaro to Christchurch was about 45 minutes late. The work of clearing the slip is expected to take all night and will probably be finished by daylight tomorrow,
