WOMAN KILLED IN COLLISION

CAR AND HEAVY TRUCK INVOLVED FIVE PERSONS INJURED (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 10. A woman was killed and five men and boys Were injured in a collision between a three-ton truck and a car on the Tauranga-Mount Maunganui highway at 8 pm. yesterday. The woman killed was: Mrs Rutuora Farrell, aged 19, of Papamoa. The truck, driven by Mr B. Kahotea. was carrying a number of persons on its tray. The tray was wrenched off in the collision, and hurled across the road.

Four of the passengers on the truck were injured. Two of them —Thomas Kahotea, aged 36, and Robert Kahotea, aged 12—were admitted to the Tauranga Hospital. Mr Kahotea suffered severe concussion, and the boy sustained head injuries. Their condition this evening was satisfactory. Mrs Farrell was travelling in a car driven by her husband. Mr Ruaparaha Farrell, a bushman at Papamoa. One side of the car was torn off, and Mrs Farrell was found under the wreckage. She died within a few minutes. Mr Farrell was slightly injured.

MOTOR-CYCLE AND CAR COLLIDE

RIDER KILLED; TWO MEN INJURED (New Zealand Press Association) CARTERTON, May 10 A motor-cyclist was killed instantly when he collided with a car on the brow of a small hill at Gladstone on Saturday evening. He was Trevor Jones, aged 23, of Carterton. The car, which was driven by Mr William Mateahi, capsized. Mr Mateahi was not injured, but his two passengers, Messrs Jack Mamana and Harry Haeata, were admitted to the Masterton Hospital with head injuries. CYCLIST FATALLY INJURED COLLISION WITH CAR (New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI, May 10. A youth died in the Wanganui General Hospital this morning as the result of injuries suffered when the bicycle he was riding collided with a car at the corner of Mitchell street and Somme parade. Aramoho, at 6.35 p.m. on Saturday. He was Douglas Hodgson, aged 19, of 324 Somme parade, Upper Aramoho. A passenger on the bar of the bicycle, Barry Gray, of Wanganui, was admitted to hospital with facial abrasions.

ELDERLY MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED An elderly man was seriously Injured last evening, when the bicycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car in Lincoln road. He is George Gower, of 48 Lincoln road. Mr Gower was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 6.50 pun. with head injuries. His condition was reported to be serious late last evening. / CAR AND CYCLIST COLLIDE Head and shoulder injurie« were suffered by Miss V. Mitchell, of 425 Armagh street, when the bicycle she was riding was involved in a collision with a car on the corner of Chelsea street and Linwood avenue on Saturday evening. She was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where her condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory. WOMAN KNOCKED OVER BY CAR Mrs P. Howard, 32 Tyrone street, Belfast, suffered head injuries when she was knocked over by a car while crossing the Main North road on Saturday. She was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by ambulance and admitted at 7.5 p.m. Her condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory. WOOL STACK FALLS ON MAN When a stack of wool Shaw Savill and Albion Company’s woolshed at Lyttelton fell on him on Saturday, Harold Jamieson, of 111 Fitzgerald avenue, suffered head injuries. He was taken by ambulance to the Christchurch Public Hospital, and admitted at 3 p.m. His condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory. CARS COLLIDE AT LITTLE RIVER Peter Nua, of Little River, suffered head injuries when the motor-car he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with another car, just outside the Little River township, yesterday afternoon. Mr Nua was brought by private car to the Christchurch Public Hospital and admitted at 8 p.m. His condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory. PIG-SHOOTER INJURED While pig-shooting in the Parnassus district on Saturday, Mr W. H. Ford, of Parnassus, shot two fingers off the left hand. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 10 p.m. on Saturday. His condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
