LEARNERS’ POOL OPEN

MANY CHILDREN STILL SWIMMING The learners’ or children's pool is now the only one open at the Centennial bath, and it is being well patronised in the afternoons by school children. The baths superintendent (Mr S. B. Mason) said that 230 persons had used the small pool during the week ended on Thursday. Tuition classes were still being held there, and the pool would remain open throughout the winter months. The large pool, which has been closed since April 18, has been scrubbed out. repaired, refilled, and all the tiles above the water have been covered to protect them from frost. The water, which is usually at a temperature of 73 degrees, is kept at 45 degrees throughout the winter In the Municipal Baths building. 12 baths and a shower are used, mostly by flat dwellers late in the afternoon.
