HORNBY CLUB Twenty riders competed in the Hornby Cash Cycling Club's weekly 10-mile out-and-home race held on Monday evening. At the turn the limit men, R. Frazer, D. Yaxley, and J. Dwyer were leading J. Black (3piin) by Msec. With a mile to go, the leaders were R. Woodgate, I. Hine, A. Ayres, M. Yaxley, R. Lucas, D. Yaxley, I. Shadbolt, Black. A. Prewer, L. French, R. Frazer, and J. Dwyer, with the scratch men 350 yards away. All these riders took part in the sprint home. Black was an early leader with Hine on his wheel, and the rest of the riders in handy positions. In a grand finish, Hine beat Lucas by half a length, with Woodgate, who has shown a marked improvement in his sprinting, half a length away third. Shadbolt was at the head of the rest. Results were:— I. Hine (IJmin), 24min 54sec. 1; R. Lucas (21min), 25min 24 l-ssec, 2; R. Woodgate (13min), 24min 54 2-ssec, 3. Fastest time, O. Duffy, 23min 40sec. Boys’ Race.—B. Gordon (35sec) 1; K. Cotton (15sec) 2; B. Dousett (15sec) 3. J. Mugford (scr) took fastest time. With one race to go, the leaders for the challenge cup are as follows:—I. Shadbolt, 7J points: M. Yaxley, R. Lucas, 7 points; L. French, 6J points; V. Powell, 6 points. Leaders for the cup for the most fastest times are: O. Duffy and J. Withers, 3 points; V. Powell, B. Woodgate, F. Leatham, 2 points.
