FLYING MILE MATCH RACE

EVENT AT TIMARU TO BE FILMED Arrangements have been made by a Christchurch businessman to film the flying mile match race between Burns Night, Johnny Globe, Sodngetaha, Van Dieman. and Vedette at Timaru on Saturday. The film, which will be taken by Mr G. Weigel, will- be in colour, and it is intended to show it in the United States and later in The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr W. A. Bodkin) has agreed to- arrange for the film to be edited by the National Film Unit. The race will be run at 12.45 p.m. No stake will be paid to the winner, but the connexions of each horse will receive appearance money. The secretary’ of the club (Mr F. G. M. Raymond) declined to state the amount to be given. The club was making arrangements for a record crowd, said Mr Raymond. He had received inquiries from all over the South Island. h Given fine weather, I think the main trouble will be to accommodate the crowd,” he said.
