MARCHING TEAM TO REPRESENT N.Z.
WHANGAREI GRENADIERS TO VISIT AUSTRALIA (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 9.. The North Island .champion marching team, Grenadiers, of Whangarei, which will represent New Zealand at an inter-Dominion marching contest at Singleton, New South Wales, on April 4, will arrive in Sydney on March 31. The contest will -be held in conjunction with the Australian national marching championships. The Grenadiers are also to march in Sydney (it is hoped at the Royal. Show), Newcastle. Gosford, Grafton, Armidale, Tamworth, Narrabri. Cessnock,' Nowra and Melboyrne. The South Island champions. Balmoral. of Timaru. who were also invited by the Australian Marching Association. are unable to make the trip. Tlie chairman of the Dominion executive committee of the New Zealand Marching Association (Mr G. . Austad) said today that marching w?s flourishing in New South Wales and was spreading to other Australian states. It was taking hold in parts of the British Isles, and the committee hoped that the day was not far off when New Zealand would send teams to inarch against Australia ahd Britain.
