Sir John Hanbury-Williams, a director of the Bank of England, and Lady Hanbury-Williams arrived in Auckland last evening by B.C.P.A. airliner. Sir John Hanbury-Williams, who is also chairman of Courtaulds, Ltd., London, will spend about three weeks in New Zealand. He will spend three or four days in Auckland before travelling to Wellington.—(P.A.) Mr E. W. Hasell, who has been for the last 17 years manager of New Zealand Breweries, Ltd. in Canterbury, will retire on March 31. He will be succeeded by Mr L. J. Moorhouse, who has been South Island sales manager of the company for the last three and a half years. Mr J. R. Weir, formerly chief inspector of the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., recently returned to New Zealand after a period of service with the bank’s head office in London. Mr Weir has been appointed Auckland district manager of the bank, and manager of the Auckland branch in succession to Mr W. L. Wyber, who will retire at the end of March.—(P.A.)
