RO“YAL SCRIPT WINS CUP (New Zealand Press Association) HAWERA. Feb. 22. The weather was fine for the first day of the Egmont Racing Club’s summer meeting at Hawera yesterday. The track was fast. There was a large attendance and the totalisator handled £48,872 IGs, compared with £55,307 10s on the first day last year. The Royal ScriptOslo double paid £2Ol 17s 6d for £l. After the running of the Egmont Cup, the stipendiary steward (Mr H. B. Lorigan) instituted an inquiry into the falling of Lady Gillis when the field had gone about four furlongs. D. Scott, rider of Goldie, was charged with causing interference. The inquiry was adjourned untn next Saturday morning to enable the judicial committee to hear the evidence of R. Jury, rider of Lady Gillis. Jury was admitted to hospital. Results:— x
