Towering snowdrifts today isolated T Orn u 40,000 Italians in five towns high 10 the Appenines after violent snowstorms during the last few days, according to reports reaching Modena, in north central Italy. now Pl°ughs are trying to cut tnrough masses of snow 13ft deep to L ea ch the towns of Pavullo, Sestola, fa pano. Motese, and Zucco. ■out L 0 miles north of Modena an avalanche yesterday buried five road workers, killing one of them.
