PROSPECTS FOR TODAY

WELLINGTON CLUB The acceptances for the first day of the Wellington Trotting Club’s autumn meeting, which will be held at Hutt Park today, include a big number of Canterbury trained horses which should win a fair share of the good stake-money. With the exception of the Auckland horses. Petite Yvonne and Scimitar, acceptors for the Wellington Free-for-All, of £llOO, are all Canterbury trained, and include some of the best pacers in commission. Johnny Globe, which has become a public idol because of his fine temperament and sterling racing qualities, will probably be a firm first choice, although in this class of race he will have to be at his best to hold off the brilliant Auckland Cup winner, Soangetaha, and the fast-improv-ing Masterpiece. The double will be on the Featherston and Navy Handicaps, in which good-sized fields of moderate class are engaged. The track will probably be soft. The following horses will be bracketed on the totalisator:—Gracefield and City Handicaps, Vagus and Dauphine; Summer Handicap, Moderate and Partner, Neon Ring and Sergeant Nelson, Roaming and Stormy Ways, Silk Star and Mutuawa, Texas Globe and Sheffield’s Pride, Tosca and Special Feature, Lady Jane and Woburn Boy. Prospects are as follows: 11 a.m.—Gracefield Handicap: VagusDauphine bracket, Pablo, Ecosse. 11.45 a.m.—Air Force Handicap: Distant Star, Bonny Opal, Dunvegan. 12.30 p.m.—Wellington Free-for-All: Johrtny Globe, Soangetaha, Masterpiece. 1.15 p.m.—Featherston Handicap: Stormy Ways, Sergeant Nelson, Neon Ring. 2 p.m.—City Handicap: Vagus-Dauphlne bracket, Ecosse, Pablo. 2.45 p.m.—Navy Handicap: Bonny Opal, Distant Star, Dunvegan. 3.30 p.m.—Qualifiers’ Handicap: Wanda, Zeus, Red Fancy. 4.15 p.m.—Summer Handicap: Brooklyn Star, Colonel Peterson, Laura Hall.
