ROYAL TOUR

SUGGESTED VISIT TO WAITANGI (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 19. The authorities responsible for arranging the Royal tour are considering the possibility of a visit by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to Waitangi. It is felt in many quarters that the itinerary should provide for a visit to Waitangi because of its historical significence and particularly because the Royal visitors will visit Kaikohe, which is only 15 miles from Waitangi. Representations that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh should visit Waitangi were received by the Governor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie) when he was in Northland recently, and his Excellency has conveyed them to the Prime Minister (Mr Holland). They are now receiving the consideration of the authorities, but it is pointed out in official circles that any alterations in the itinerary already announced would require the approval oi Buckingham Palace.
