VALUE LAST YEAR £43,000,000

LONDON, February 18. The Minister of Civil Aviation (Lord de L’lsle and Dudley) told the House of Commons today that British aircraft exports last year were worth £43,000,000. That just about equalled exports from the shipbuilding industry.

He said it was hoped that this vear the figure would rise to £60,000.000 But in the United States there was a powerful, skilful, resourceful competitor, and Britain’s lead in the aircraft industry would not automatically be maintained.
