SUEZ CANAL ZONE

“TALKS WITHIN FEW DAYS ” (Rec. 11 p.m.) CAIRO, February 18. The Egyptian Prime Minister (General Mohamed Naguib) said today that the British and Egyptian talks on the evacuation of the Suez Canal Zone will begin “within a few days.” “There is perfect agreement upon the principle itself,” he said. The evacuation of British troops from the Canal Zone was a sacred right "which Britain has actually recognised," he said. The forthcoming talks would be confined to points of detail and to the period during which the evacuation might be carried out. Egypt has declared the evacuation of British troops from the Canal Zone her next objective after the agreement with Britain on the future of the Sudan.
