OFFICIAL FORECASTS . “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, February 17. 6 The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and Sealing with the 27 hours following the time of issue, Situation: pressure is relatively high over New Zealand, and pressure is falling over the north-west Tasman Sea. Forecast: light north-east winds;, weather fair to fine; temperatures rising. Outlook: fair to cloudy. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Northerly winds, becoming moderate; fair at first, cloudy later, with some drizzle in the south; temperatures mild. Outlook: rain. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was fine, with a light north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 61.7 degrees. At midnight the sky ‘was overcast, and there was a light northerly wind. The temperature was 53.5 degrees. The barometer, at 29.588 Inches (1015.5 millibars), was falling unsteadily.
