RIFLE SHOOTING
R.N.Z.A.F. CHAMPIONSHIPS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON,. February 17. A possible by K. A. Bailey (Army) at 300 yards was a feature today of the Royal New Zealand Air Force rifle championships being conducted at Trentham. The big Held includes several Army representatives. Bailey’s success was in the N0..9 match, the Hobsonville Match, which produced the best scoring of the day. The standard in the services series was also high. The defending service champion. H. L. Homer, was leading at the end of the first stage of the series. Results:— Match 6, Rapid, 300 Yards.—H. L. Homer .(Headquarters), 42 points, 1; T. D. O’Connor, 40, 2; G. Kells (Lauthala Bay), 40, 3. Match. 7, Snapshooting, 300 Yards.— Homer, 45, 1; R. O’Connell (Woodbourne) and L. P. Boyd (Hobsonville), 42 (equal), ft. Match 8, First Stage Service Championships.—Homer, 162, 1; Boyd, 152, 2; D. J. Caughley (Woodbourne), 151, 3. Match 9, Deliberate Practice, 300 Yards. —K. J. Bailey (Army), 50, 1; T. D. O’Connor (Hobsonville), 49, 2; H. V. Childe (Woodbourne), 49, 3. Match 10, Deliberate Practice, 500 Yards.—D. J. Caughley (Woodbourne), 48, 1; J. S. Nicholson (Hobsonville), 48, 2; M. H. Curie (Air Department)47, 3. Match , 10, Deliberate Practice, SOO Yards.—S.
