N.Z. CORONATION CONTINGENT

FIVE K FORCE MEN CHOSEN (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 18.

The names of the five members of K Force to be included in the New Zealand Coronation contingent were announced by Army Headquarters today. They are: Captain T. M. Fenton, of Waitara, who is serving with the 16th New Zealand Field Regiment; Stall Sergeant G. J. McKinnon, of Ruatork, serving with the 10th New Zealand Transport Company, R.N.Z.A.S.C.; Sergeant R. A. Pope, of Opunake, serving with the Ist Commonwealth Divisional Headquarters Transport Platoon; Corporal B. Mclntyre, of Morrinsville, serving with the Ist Cortimonwealth Divisional Signals Regiment; and Gunner L. J. Crapp. of Whakatane, serving with the loth New Zealand Field Regiment , , Captain Fenton is one of the original members of K Force, who left New Zealand in the Ormonde on December 10, 1950. He has not been back to New Zealand since then. A fighter pilot during the war, when he attained the rank of flight lieutenant, Captain Fenton is a member of a family with an outstanding service record. His four brothers were on service throughout the war, three with the Army and one with the Navy, and one of them. Warrant Officer F. A. Fenton, also of Waitara, has been included in the Territorial component of the Coronation contingent. Another of the brothers, Major J. D. Fenton, M.8.E., R.N.Z.E.M.E., a Regular officer at present stationed at Central Militapr District headquarters, was included in the New Zealand Victory Parade contingent in 1946. Staff Sergeant McKinnon, Sergeant Pope, and Corporal Mclntyre are all members of the draft which left New Zealand in the Wahine in August, 1951, to expand K Force to its present size, and Gunner Crapp, who is a Maori, left New Zealand to join the force in July last year.

QUEEN’S MOUNTED ESCORT

TWO OFFICERS CHOSEN (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 16. Major P. W. Robertshaw, M.C., and Captain J. G. Gilberd will ride in the mounted escort for the Queen on Coronation Day. Major Robertshaw 11 a Territorial officer who lives at Porangahau, Hawke’s Bay, and Captain Gilberd is a a Regular officer, of Fort Dorset, Wellington.
