VICEREGAL (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 16. The Governor-General (S.r Willoughby Norrie) and Lady Norrie left Wellington by air this afternoon for Dunedin. The Mayor (Mr R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.), Crs. G. Manning and M. B. Howard, M.P., and the Town Clerk (Mr H. S. Feast) were appointed by the City Council last evening as its representatives at the Municipal Association conference, which will be held in Wellington from March 12 to March 20. Wing Commander A. Vear, of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, who has been on exchange duties with the Royal Air Force since 1949, will return to New Zealand today in the Dominion Monarch.—(P.A.) Mr O. H. Dillon, of Auckland, has b£bn elected national vice-president of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants.—(P.A.) Wing Commander D. J. H. Lay, R.A.F., will arrive in New Zealand on February 21 in the Akaroa to take up exchange duties with the Royal New Zealand Air Force as Officer Commanding the Officers’ School, Whenuapai.—(P.A.)
Mr W. Nicholson, representative in New Zealand of the National Union, of Seamen, has been transferred to Australia* and will probably live in Melbourne. Mr Nicholson has been in Wellington for more than three years. His successor is Mr L. T. Yates, who has been stationed at Montreal and also New York.—(P.A.)
