DOMINION BAND CONTEST

ARRANGEMENTS AT WANGANUI (New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI, January 20. Twenty-six brass bands have made definite arrangements to compete at the New Zealand brass bands’ championship contest in Wanganui in the last week in February. Six bands have not yet made a definite decision. The contest committee was told at a meeting last evening that arrangements for accommodation for visiting bands ad soloists were as complete as it was possible to make them. It was decided that after Monday next any further accommodation asked for could not be guaranteed. The secretary will advise the bands which have not yet made a definite decision about competing of this. “We are unable to extend the time for booking accommodation later than next Monday,” said Mr E. W. F. Johns. The bands which have definitely made arrangements to compete are:— A Grade.—Auckland Watersiders, Kaikorai, Woolston, Wanganui. Garrison, and Queen Alexandra’s’ Own (Wanganui). B Grade. — Auckland City Silver, Ist Battalion Auckland Regiment, 3rd Armoured Regiment, Lower Hutt Civic. Lower Hutt Municipal, Northern Military District, and Palmerston North Garrison. C Grade.— Addington Workshops, Cayersham Citizens, Masterton Municipal. and Wellington Tramways. D Grade.— Eltham Municipal, Granity Silver, Hutt Railway Workshops, Inglewood Municipal, Lyttelton Marine, Otahuhu Workshops, Papatoetoe, Portland Boys’ (Australia), Te Awamutu, and Wellington Watersiders (Junior).
