Liberation of Trout.— No fewer than 630 fish were liberated in Homestead Creek at Lake Coleridge by the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society on September 26, said a report presented at a meeting of the council of the society last evening. Of this number 112 were measured, 109 rainbow trout ranging from 4in to 9in and three brown trout ranging from lOin to 17in. At Lake Coleridge a further batch of 107,700 rainbow fry was liberated on October 4, and 30,000 in Lake Ida. A week later 60,000 were liberated in Lake Pearson. 44,000 in Lake Grasmere, 18,000 in Lake Sarah, and 18,000 in Lake Hawden.
