COUNTY RATING IN PAPARUA

The rateable capital values of the ridings of the Paparua county for the 1952-53 year were listed as follows by the County Clerk (Mr A. Kelly) at a meeting of the council on Monday evening:— Islington, £1,111,590; Sockburn. £928,975; Yaldhurst, £433,095; West Melton. £334,875; Ladbrooks. £291,945; Broadfield, £276,295 Templeton, £276.285; Prebbleton, £195,210; total, £3,848,270.

Commenting on the rates levied for the year. Mr Kelly said that the total rates collected by the council were almost double those levied by the council itself.

The rates are as follows: general rates, £19,203; Hosoital Board, £6669; water charges, £3662; Transport Board. £3050; Ellesmere drainage. £2630: santitary charges, £1619; Waimakariri river, £1201; Catchment Board, £803: total, £3,848,270.
