Mr Basil Sanderson, chairman of directors of the Shaw Savill and Albion Company, Ltd., and chairman of the New Zealand Shipping Conference Lines, is to pay his first visit to New Zealand since 1946. He will arrive by air from Sydney on December 30 and be in the Dominion until February 17. He intends to visit all branches of the company. Before arriving in New Zealand Mr Sanderson will spend several weeks in Australia. He will leave London by air on November 2 and arrive at Sydney on November 6.—London, October 31.
Mr F. C. Lopdell, Chief Inspector of Primary Schools, retired yesterday. Mr Lopdell was principal of the Wellington Teachers’ Training College from 1936 to 1948. He began work as a pupil teacher in Southland, and took nis M.A. degree at Otago University. He was vice-principal of the Auckland Training College, from 1929 to 1936. In 1948 he became the first district superintendent the Education Department’s Auckland branch.—(P.A.) Mr L. G. R. Edgar has been appointed an additional member of the Ealing Domain Board, according to the Gazette.
