RUSSIA’S PART IN THE WAR
. Sir, —Far from refusing to read both sides, as “G.A.P.” suggests, I was in truth pointing out that there are two sides. Condemnation of Russia and Communists we have good and plenty; and one only has to try and be fair to be labelled “fellow traveller,” etc. Professor H. Butterfield reminds us that France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan and even the United States have all been Enemy No. 1 in turn. I didn’t know “G.A.P” alluded to the jackal. Why pick on the jackal? My reference work has nothing bad to say about him. By pro-Soviet ideas are simply pro-humanity.—Yours, etc., A. OCKENDEN. October 28, 1952. [“G.A.P.” may briefly reply; otherwise, this correspondence is closed.—Ed., “The Press.”]
