POISONING OF ANIMALS
Sir, —The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is informed that poison has been, and is being, laid on gardens on and about Perry street, Papanui. Cats have died in greatest agony. A householder remained with a cat in pain for half an hour until it was mercifully released in death. Any lover of animals, seeing the suffering caused, would be sadly upset. The lady said to the writer, “I cannot forget the look in the cat’s eyes in its pain.” The society regards this cruelty seriously, so much so that it will realise its responsibility in prosecution. —Yours, etc.. H. P. BRIDGE. Chairman, Canterbury Branch of S.P.C.A. October 23, 1952.
