' INJURED MAN DIES EXPLOSION IN SHED AT AUCKLAND (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 23. William Jeynes, a widower, aged 86, who was injured in an explosion at his home at Alderley road, Mount Eden, yesterday, died in the Auckland Public Hospital early this morning. Mr Jeynes was found lying unconscious beside the house, with serious injuries to the stomach and an arm. A shed nearby was on fire. The police later took possession of several plugs of gelignite, detonators, and a length of fuse. MAN FOUND DEAD ON ROAD CONTACT WITH ELECTRIC WIRES PRESUMED „ ■ w (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, Oct. 23. Albert Edward Benbow, aged 51, a farmer, of Ormondville, was found dead on the road near his home this morning. It is believed that Mr Benbow made contact with overhead electric wires when he was carrying a long ironhandled hoe. TWO BOYS SUFFER CONCUSSION STRUCK BY MAN FLUNG FROM CHAIROPLANE (New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS, October 23. When a man was thrown from his seat in a chairoplane into the crowd at the Royal Show at Tomona today, two boys were injured, and were admitted to hospital. They are John Roberts, aged 14, of Taihape, and Walter Simpson, aged 15, of Rotorua. They suffered concussion, but, their condition is not serious. The chairoplane was revolving at speed when the man became unseated and was hurled into the crowd thronged about the nearby sideshows and amusement appliances. Several persons were knocked to the ground, but only the two boys were injured. CYCLIST’S INJURIES PROVE FATAL (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLANP, Oct. 23. A woman died in the Auckland Hospital yesterday after suffering head injuries in a bicycle accident at Thames on October 10. She was: Mrs Sabina Florence Godfrey, aged 49, of 6 Franklin street, Thames. PEDESTRIAN INJURED John William Albert Peterson, aged 49, suffered head injuries when he was knocked over by a bicycle on the corner of Wilson’s road and Ferry road at 5.40 p.m. yesterday. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
