ARSON CHARGE
ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL (New Zealand Press Association) 9 WELLINGTON, October 8. Cyril Futter Weston, aged C 9, a nightwatchman, pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court today to a charge of arson, and was committed by Mr J. Hessell, S.M., to the Supreme Court for trial. Weston was alleged to have set fire on September 27 to a house which he rented at Lyall Bay. The fire was said to have occurred in an unoccupied flat at the rear of the house which Weston was subletting. Damage was confined to three cupboard doors, and amounted to about £2. Evidence was given that another fire had occurred in a different room of the flat on September 28. Damage estimated at between £lOO and £l5O was caused.
