LIBERATION OF TROUT OVA

The Ashburton Acclimatisation Society has advised the North Canterbury society that, because of a reduction in the quantity of rainbow trout ova sent by the Department of Internal Affairs it is able to supply North Canterbury with only 280.000 ova, instead of 375,000, as originally intended. The first ova delivered were liberated on October 4. A total of 107,700 ova were liberated in Lake Coleridge, 30,000 in Lake Ida, and 2300 in ponds. The second lot, which will be liberated tomorrow, will be divided among Lakes Pearson (60,000), Grassmere (44,000), Sarah (18,000), and Hawdon (18,000).
