FIGHTING IN KOREA
ENEMY WITHDRAWAL FROM “BIG NORI” (Rec. 10 p.m.) SEOUL, October 5. A United Nations patrol has found that the Chinese Communists have withdrawn from “Big Nori,’’ a hill on the banks of the Imjin River, which was the scene of bitter fighting on the Korean western front in the past week. The patrol returned to Ms main positions and reports indicate that neither side holds the peak, which overlooks part of the front line. The Chinese have bitterly resisted -Allied attempts to take the hill, and this week beat off two attacks by a Greek battalion. The sth Air Force announced today that six United Nations planes were lost over North Korea during the week ended Friday. During the same time United Nations pilots shot down nine M.l.G.’s, probably- destroyed one. and damaged 15 others.
