Sir Keith Murdoch was born in Melbourne ,in August. 1886. He was educated at a grammar school in the neighbouring town of Camberwell. He was a son of the Rev. P- J- Murdoch, who had left Aberdeenshire ty become a Presbyterian minister at Camberwell. His mother was also Scottish. Starting his career in journalism as a reporter on the Melbourne “Age.” Sir Keith Murdoch was appointed a war correspondent for the Gallipoli campaign, with a specie' mission to watch events on behalf of the Australian Government. He carried out the task with credit, and afterwards aide a report on the campaign to the British Government. When he was in London he took I course at the School of Economics. After being editor and manager of the United Cable Service, he reprelented Australian newspapers and “The Times” on the Prince of Wales’s visit to Australia and New Zealand in In 1933 Sir Keith Murdoch was knighted for his public services to Australia.
