BIRCHWOOD MEETING ABANDONED
HEAVY RAIN FLOODS TRACK (New Zealand Pre.ts Association) INVERCARGILL, October 4. The annual race meeting of. the Birchwood Hunt, which was to have been held today, has been abandoned because of the poor condition of the track. Nearly an inch of rain fell Overnight and the straight was covered by water this morning. A special committee then decided to abandon the meeting. y The secretary of the club (Mr J. E. Cuthill), said that the club would apply for another date, but he did not expect the meeting to be held until April. AUCKLAND REHANDICAPS (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 5. The following rehandicaps have been declared for the Auckland Racing Club’s meeting next Saturday:— Takanini Hurdles: Golden Brown, 9-10. Hobson Handicap: Shot Silk 9-0. Mitchelson Cup: Crover 8-7. Shorts Handicap: Dixie 9-0. Flying Handicap: Lyndomar 8-4.
