Noel Taytor (Christchurch) won the t Olympic gold eup cross-country race at T Jt n w«s Taylor’s second win in the race, ' and his time, in spite of a howling gale • for most of the four laps, was only six i minutes outside the record held by Gor- : don Bromily. As well as the New Zea- > land cross-country title (over a course of more than six miles), which he won in i Christchurch a few weeks ago, Taylor ■ holds the national track six-mile title. I Taylor yesterday covered the first lap ■ of five miles in’2Bmin 51sec, and 10 miles in just under an hour. It was this initial advantage that won him the race. Results;— N.
