KENNEDY’S BUSH REGENERATION

CITY COUNCIL PLAN

Regeneration of plant life at Kennedy’s Bush on the Port Hills is planned by the Christchurch City Council and yesterday afternoon the reserves committee inspected the area with the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr T. W. Preston) and other officers.

The council had a big scheme of planting for Kennedy’s Bush, but It could not be implemented until better protective fencing was provided, said the chairman of the committee (Cr. M. B. Howard, M.P.) last evening. Crown lands officers had accompanied the committee on its inspection to discuss some sort of co-operation. The committee would report to the council-in about a month. So far nothing further had been done about restoration of the Sign of the Bellbird, Cr. Howard said. The last proposal was for a conference to be called of youth bodies who might assist in putting the rest house in order and then undertake its supervision.
